Market Risk Analyst – Middle Office Risk Management

About the role

Gateworth is supporting a client in the commodities trading sector to hire a Market Risk Analyst for their Middle Office Risk Management function in Dubai. Reporting to the Senior Risk Manager, you will monitor, analyse and control market risk arising from physical and derivative trading activities, ensuring accurate P&L reporting and insightful risk oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and validate daily trading P&L and exposure reports, including attribution and variance analysis across price, volume, basis, timing and FX impacts.
• Monitor positions, mark‑to‑market valuations and commodity curves, explaining key risk drivers and sensitivities to management.
• Support scenario and stress testing, hedge performance reviews and ensure timely trade capture and CTRM system reconciliation.
• Enforce trading and risk limits, escalating breaches and maintaining data quality standards.
• Assist internal and external audits and contribute to improving risk processes and controls.
• Conduct market and competitor analysis on crude oil, refined products or gas to support trading decisions.
• Prepare ad‑hoc management reports, dashboards and presentations with actionable insights.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience as a market risk or trading risk analyst in a physical and derivative commodities trading environment, preferably with crude oil exposure.
• Strong understanding of P&L attribution, mark‑to‑market valuation, hedge performance and commodity risk management.
• Proven ability to work with trading, finance and management teams to deliver accurate risk reporting.
