Mechanical Airframe Systems Design Specialist

About the role

The Mechanical Airframe Systems Design Specialist will lead the design, integration, and validation of critical mechanical systems for UAV platforms, including landing gear, fuel distribution, environmental control, hydraulics, and actuation mechanisms. This position is based in Abu Dhabi and reports to the ADASI Engineering Services department.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and integration of mechanical airframe systems, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards.
• Create 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and manufacturing documentation using CATIA, Siemens NX, or SolidWorks.
• Perform structural, hydromechanical, and thermal analyses to verify system integrity under operational loads.
• Collaborate with avionics, propulsion, and flight‑control teams to achieve seamless system integration.
• Define system requirements, interface control documents, and bill of materials in line with MIL‑STD and RTCA DO‑160.
• Support prototype builds, ground testing, and flight trials, troubleshooting design issues in real time.
• Ensure adherence to airworthiness regulations and defense‑sector quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement for performance, manufacturability, and maintainability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in aerospace mechanical systems design.
• Proven expertise in at least three areas: landing gear, fuel systems, ECS, hydraulics, or actuation.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is desirable.
• Exposure to EASA Part 21, GCAA DOA, or similar design approvals.

• Knowledge of AS9100, MIL‑STD, DO‑160 standards
• Familiarity with EASA Part 21, GCAA DOA
• INCOSE ASEP/CSEP or PMP/PRINCE2 certification (optional but valued)
