Mechanical Design Engineer II

About the role

The Mechanical Design Engineer II will support the design, analysis, and development of gas‑turbine and turbojet/turbofan engines. Working under senior engineers, the role focuses on detailed mechanical design, testing support, and ownership of defined components or sub‑assemblies.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop turbomachinery components such as shafts, casings, brackets, seals and related hardware using 3D CAD and 2D drawings, applying GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Perform structural and thermal analyses, including stress, deformation, fatigue (LCF/HCF) and thermal growth assessments.
• Support rotating equipment design, rotor assembly definition, bearing integration and housing design.
• Apply design‑for‑manufacturability principles, collaborate with manufacturing, and define material selections and tolerances.
• Assist in engine build, rig testing and instrumentation definition, and document engineering changes.
• Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, configuration records and support root‑cause analysis for failures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 4–7 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in turbomachinery or gas‑turbine products.
• Experience in product development environments and familiarity with testing or prototype builds.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools such as CATIA or NX.
• Basic finite‑element analysis using ANSYS or similar software.
• Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, stress and fatigue behavior, and rotating machinery concepts.
