Mechanical Technical Engineer

About the role

The Mechanical Technical Engineer will lead the mechanical drafting team, supervise the preparation of shop drawings and technical submittals, and ensure all deliverables meet project specifications, local regulations and client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor mechanical draftsmen schedules to meet submission deadlines.
• Review, verify and approve mechanical shop drawings, design calculations and material submittals before client or consultant submission.
• Ensure all drawings comply with QCS2014, NFPA codes, local authority requirements and project specifications.
• Prepare and sign‑off method statements in line with health, safety and quality standards.
• Liaise with architectural, structural and other engineering disciplines for coordinated approvals.
• Support HSE initiatives and participate in safety awareness activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of overall experience, with at least 5 years in a similar role.
• Experience in GCC projects is an advantage.
• UPDA certification or equivalent recognized engineering attestation.

Required skills

• Mechanical shop drawing preparation and review.
• Mechanical design calculation verification.
• Knowledge of NFPA mechanical codes and QCS2014 standards.
• Preparation and approval of method statements.
• PLC hardware troubleshooting.
• Failure mode and defect analysis.
• Reading and interpreting electrical schemes and load diagrams.
• Strong understanding of construction field practices and local regulations.
