Occupational Therapy Assistant

About the role

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) works under the direct supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to support patient care in a clinical setting. The OTA implements treatment plans, assists with therapeutic activities, and helps ensure safe and effective therapy sessions for patients in Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Occupational Therapist in delivering individualized treatment plans to improve functional independence in ADLs and IADLs.
• Conduct delegated therapeutic activities, exercises, and interventions while maintaining patient safety and adhering to clinical guidelines.
• Support the administration of standardized and non‑standardized assessments as assigned.
• Observe, monitor, and accurately report patient progress, functional performance, and any concerns to the supervising therapist.
• Prepare treatment areas, position patients for adaptive equipment and splint fabrication, and ensure equipment is clean and functional.
• Manage inventory of occupational therapy materials, supplies, and consumables.
• Educate patients and families on therapy activities, home exercise programs, and proper use of adaptive devices.
• Maintain accurate patient records, attendance logs, and treatment notes.
• Assist in scheduling therapy sessions and participate in team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited Occupational Therapy program (minimum 2‑year syllabus).
• Current national license as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA).
• At least 2 years of relevant clinical experience.
