Operations Manager – BU Head Ship Management

About the role

Based in Dubai and reporting to the VP, Port Services – MEA, the Operations Manager / BU Head Ship Management leads the Ship Management Business Unit of DP World Maritime Solutions. The role is responsible for safe, efficient and cost‑effective operation of the DPW Express RoRo‑Pax vessel and associated tugs, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Overall management of the business unit including financial, HR, crewing, HSSEQ and technical oversight.
• Ensure fleet vessels are maintained, operational and meet statutory and charter obligations.
• Liaise with Masters, Chief Engineers and sea staff to resolve technical and equipment issues.
• Lead technical projects such as dry‑dockings, new installations and conversions.
• Monitor operational expenses, asset acquisition and equipment planning.
• Develop and coach the local team to achieve global maritime excellence and nurture new talent.
• Maintain client relationships, manage stakeholder expectations and report key performance indicators.
• Travel worldwide as required, often on short notice and for extended periods.

Required profile

• Proven experience in ship management or maritime operations at a senior level.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen with ability to manage budgets.
• Excellent knowledge of HSSEQ regulations and maritime compliance.
• Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel internationally and work in dynamic environments.
