Optical Technician – Lens Cutting & Fitting

About the role

The Optical Technician is responsible for cutting, glazing, fitting and repairing ophthalmic lenses to meet prescription and frame specifications. The role ensures accurate and timely completion of optical orders while maintaining stock levels and quality standards in a fast‑paced retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Cut, glaze and fit ophthalmic lenses according to prescriptions and frame specifications.
• Perform frame adjustments and basic repairs.
• Check lenses and frames for quality and manufacturing defects.
• Assist the sales team in selecting suitable lenses for frames.
• Process and deliver optical lens orders in the system.
• Order and maintain RX optical lens stock, conducting regular stock checks and replenishment.
• Follow up on daily and pending orders, providing timely updates.
• Conduct quality checks before handing over completed orders.
• Follow equipment maintenance and safety guidelines, cleaning and switching off equipment at the end of the day.
• Maintain workshop cleanliness and hygiene standards, reporting any damaged lenses, incidents or technical issues promptly.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification or certification in Optical Technology (preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the UAE.
• Knowledge of lens cutting, glazing, fitting and frame adjustments.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good organizational and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced retail environment.
• Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays and varied shifts when required.
