PhD Position in Geophysics, Rock Physics & Remote Sensing

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to conduct interdisciplinary research at the interface of geophysics, rock physics, and remote sensing. The work will support critical mineral exploration, environmental studies, and energy‑resource investigations through advanced AI‑ and physics‑based methods.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and integrate geophysical, rock‑physics, and remote‑sensing algorithms for subsurface characterization.
• Process and interpret multi‑sensor geophysical and remote‑sensing datasets.
• Apply methods to mineral exploration, environmental monitoring, geothermal and renewable‑energy resources, and regional seismic imaging.
• Publish research findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at conferences.

Required profile

• Strong academic background in geophysics, applied geophysics, remote sensing, machine learning or a closely related discipline.
• Experience with geophysical data processing, remote‑sensing techniques, GIS, and/or rock physics is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in scientific programming (Python, MATLAB or similar) and quantitative data analysis.
• Ability to integrate multidisciplinary Earth‑science datasets.
