Postdoctoral Fellow – Cancer Modeling & Oncolytic Virotherapy

About the role

The Department of Family Medicine at United Arab Emirates University seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join Dr. Arwa Baabdulla’s research team. The role focuses on mathematical modeling of cancer dynamics, especially oncolytic virotherapy, tumor‑virus interactions, and immune responses.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and analyze nonlinear mathematical models describing tumor cells, oncolytic viruses, and immune interactions.
• Perform bifurcation, stability, and sensitivity analyses to understand model behavior.
• Formulate and solve optimal control problems to design effective treatment schedules and combination therapies.
• Conduct numerical simulations using computational tools and validate results against experimental data.
• Prepare scientific manuscripts, present findings at conferences, and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.

Required profile

• PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field.
• Strong research background in mathematical oncology or mathematical biology.
• Experience with ordinary differential equations, nonlinear dynamical systems, and stability analysis.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MATLAB.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience in bifurcation, sensitivity, and numerical simulation of nonlinear models.
• Knowledge of optimal control theory and its numerical implementation.
