About the role
The Department of Earth Sciences and Polar Research Center at Khalifa University seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher / Research Scientist to advance understanding of Himalayan climate dynamics, cryosphere change, and associated glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF) hazards, with a focus on Nepal.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct interdisciplinary research on regional climate, cryosphere evolution, and GLOF-related hazards in the Himalaya.
- Investigate Neogene to recent flood deposits and lake sediment records in the Himalayan foreland and adjacent basins.
- Analyse links between flooding events, climate variability, and tectonic processes.
- Collaborate with Khalifa University, the Emirates Polar Program, and international research partners.
- Prepare scholarly publications, conference presentations, and outreach activities.
Required profile
- PhD in Earth Sciences, Geophysics, Geology, Geoscience, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated record of high‑quality research and publications.
- Experience in fieldwork and sedimentary analysis is advantageous.
