Practical Midwife – Hospital Position

About the role

The Practical Midwife provides age‑appropriate patient care within the hospital’s midwifery unit, supporting the Registered Midwife and adhering to Abu Dhabi’s professional standards. This role is essential for delivering safe, patient‑centred care under supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care according to hospital policies and the Nursing Scope of Practice.
• Assist patients with daily living activities, including meals and hygiene, following the care plan.
• Monitor and report observations, vital signs and any changes in patient condition to the Registered Midwife.
• Document care accurately in electronic medical records and communicate verbally with the interdisciplinary team.
• Support infection‑control practices, maintain a safe unit environment, and report risks or incidents.
• Participate in emergency response procedures as outlined by the organization.
• Assist with administrative duties and support new staff and nursing students.

Required profile

• Understanding of the mission, vision and values of the organization.
• Commitment to the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi.
• Ability to work under supervision, maintain confidentiality and act as a patient advocate.
• Strong communication skills with patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
