Principal Project Engineer

About the role

Worley is seeking a Principal Project Engineer to lead the PMC Engineering group on a major energy project in Abu Dhabi. You will oversee day‑to‑day work allocation, supervise the contractor during engineering and procurement phases, and ensure the delivery of high‑quality technical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the PMC Engineering team, allocating work and supervising daily activities.
• Oversee contractor performance throughout engineering and procurement phases.
• Lead development and implementation of engineering processes, procedures and systems.
• Ensure the team is correctly resourced with the appropriate disciplines.
• Provide independent project‑management consultancy, risk mitigation and recovery planning.
• Participate in design reviews, ensuring constructability, testability, operability and safety.
• Coordinate vendor document reviews and secure owner approvals for engineering designs.
• Interface with piping, mechanical, structural, E&I and specialist disciplines.
• Conduct succession planning, competence assessments and performance reviews.
• Lead site visits to demonstrate safety leadership.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in engineering project management within the energy, chemicals or resources sector.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts.
• Ability to develop and implement robust engineering processes.
• Excellent communication skills for client and stakeholder interaction.
