Project Director – Rail & TBM Construction

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced and visionary Project Director to lead a large‑scale rail and tunnel boring machine (TBM) construction project in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This strategic leadership position oversees the project from conception through commissioning, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives, timelines, and rigorous quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and oversee all project phases, including planning, design, construction, and commissioning.
• Develop and manage comprehensive budgets, financial forecasts, and cost‑control measures.
• Establish and maintain strategic relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, contractors, and key stakeholders.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of engineers, planners, and administrative staff.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks through proactive analysis and contingency planning.
• Monitor progress against schedules and key performance indicators, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with UAE regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
• Prepare and present detailed project reports and recommendations to senior leadership and board members.
• Manage contract negotiations, procurement processes, and vendor relationships.
• Champion innovation and best‑practice methodologies in project delivery.

Required profile

• Minimum 20 years of progressive experience in large‑scale infrastructure or transportation project management.
• Proven ability to provide decisive leadership in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Strong track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to high quality and safety standards.
