Purchaser – Fresh Produce & Perishables

About the role

Fruitful Day is seeking an experienced Purchaser to own the sourcing and buying of fresh fruit, vegetables and other perishable items for its UAE operations. The role requires deep knowledge of the local fresh‑produce market, strong negotiation skills and a focus on quality, availability and cost.

Key responsibilities

• Source and purchase fresh fruit and vegetables from local suppliers, wholesalers, importers and markets.
• Identify products that meet quality, specification, seasonality, price and customer requirements.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of UAE market pricing, product availability and seasonal changes.
• Build and maintain relationships with trusted suppliers, negotiate pricing, payment terms, volumes and delivery schedules.
• Benchmark suppliers, onboard new vendors and address performance issues.
• Ensure purchased items meet Fruitful Day’s quality, freshness, sizing and presentation standards.
• Collaborate with operations, sales and production teams to plan purchasing around forecast demand and manage inventory.
• Monitor price movements, control purchasing costs and identify opportunities to improve gross margin.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a purchaser or buyer in the UAE fresh‑produce market.
• Strong understanding of product quality, seasonality, grading, ripeness and shelf‑life.
• Hands‑on approach with the ability to act quickly on demand fluctuations.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier‑management capabilities.
