Quality Inspector (Painting/Coating)

About the role

The Quality Inspector – Painting/Coating ensures that all surface preparation, painting and coating activities on civil and oil & gas projects meet approved specifications, Inspection and Test Plans and relevant standards. You will work closely with site teams, subcontractors and QA/QC personnel to guarantee that coating works are executed correctly, documented accurately and accepted by clients.

Key responsibilities

• Review project specifications, drawings and method statements to verify coating systems, surface preparation requirements and acceptance criteria before work starts.
• Inspect surface preparation activities such as cleaning, degreasing, abrasive blasting and power‑tool cleaning, confirming cleanliness, profile and grade according to SSPC/ISO standards.
• Monitor application of primers, intermediate and top coats, checking mixing ratios, pot life, application methods and curing times.
• Perform and record dry film thickness, wet film thickness, adhesion and holiday testing as required.
• Prepare and submit Work Inspection Requests and coating inspection reports, maintaining accurate logs and test results.
• Identify non‑conforming works, raise Non‑Conformance Reports and track corrective actions through re‑inspection.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, site engineers and QA/QC teams, and participate in joint inspections with clients and consultants.

Required profile

• At least 60 months (5 years) of experience in painting and coating inspection on civil or oil & gas projects.
• Familiarity with relevant standards (SSPC, ISO) and Inspection & Test Plans.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and method statements.
