Registered Midwife

About the role

The Registered Midwife will deliver safe, compassionate care to women and newborns throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal and newborn periods at Royal Hospital Dubai Investment Park. Working within the regulator’s Scope of Practice, the role requires completion of all competencies and clinical privileging before providing direct patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide evidence‑based care during spontaneous vaginal deliveries, instrumental deliveries and both emergent and elective caesarean sections.
• Assist obstetricians with procedures such as artificial rupture of membranes (AROM) and perform sterile vaginal examinations.
• Monitor labour progress, conduct CTG monitoring, interpret fetal heart rates and escalate to obstetricians when required.
• Perform immediate post‑delivery care for mothers, including fundal massage, placental examination, quantitative blood loss assessment and vital‑sign monitoring.
• Perform immediate post‑delivery care for newborns, including cord blood gas analysis, newborn identification, physical assessment and vital‑sign monitoring.
• Support women’s birthing plans, promote early breastfeeding, skin‑to‑skin bonding and adhere to the WHO Mother‑Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions and provide emotional support.

Required profile

• Registered Midwife with valid licence from MOHAP and compliance with the national Scope of Practice.
• Completion of all required competencies and clinical privileging prior to patient care.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary hospital environment and collaborate with obstetricians, neonatologists and nursing staff.
• Commitment to patient safety, wellbeing and evidence‑based practice.
