Resident Engineer – Civil (Substation)

About the role

As a Resident Engineer – Civil (Substation) you will lead and supervise all civil works for high‑voltage substation projects in Abu Dhabi. You will act as the on‑site representative, ensuring that construction is delivered to design specifications, quality standards, safety regulations and project timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise civil works for GIS/AIS substations, including control buildings, transformer and gantry foundations, cable trenches, duct banks, boundary walls, fencing, roads, drainage and underground utilities.
• Monitor contractor performance, progress and compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
• Review and approve material submittals, shop drawings, RFIs and method statements.
• Ensure adherence to QA/QC procedures and HSE requirements.
• Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, protection and commissioning teams.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and utility authorities.
• Review progress reports, variations and contractor claims.
• Support testing, commissioning, project hand‑over and close‑out activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer/Chartered Engineer certification is an advantage.
• Minimum 15 years of civil engineering and construction supervision experience.
• At least 10 years on 132 kV and above substation projects.
• Proven experience with GIS and AIS substations.
• Mandatory consultancy/site‑supervision background.
• Preferred experience on UAE/GCC utility projects.
