Resident Engineer – Mechanical Substation – 132 KV

About the role

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Resident Engineer to lead mechanical engineering activities for high‑voltage substations (132 kV, 220 kV, 400 kV and above) in Abu Dhabi. You will ensure that construction complies with approved drawings, specifications, contract documents and local authority requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all mechanical engineering work related to EHV/HV substations.
• Verify that construction activities follow approved drawings, project specifications and local regulations.
• Monitor contractor performance, productivity and adherence to project schedules.
• Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress, workmanship and compliance.
• Review and recommend approval of contractor submissions, including method statements, material submittals, shop drawings and work procedures.
• Participate in progress review meetings and coordinate with all project stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in MEP engineering with a focus on erection, testing and commissioning of substations.
• Strong coordination and communication skills for effective interaction with subcontractors, clients and civil teams.
• Proven ability to prepare and review technical drawings and calculations.
• Excellent problem‑solving ability, attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
