Rigging and Lifting Specialist

About the role

The Rigging & Lifting Specialist is responsible for planning, reviewing, coordinating and supervising all lifting and rigging activities on the project. The role ensures that lifts are carried out safely, efficiently and in full compliance with ADNOC requirements, UAE regulations and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review, assess and approve lifting plans, rigging studies, method statements and risk assessments submitted by contractors.
• Provide technical input for critical, heavy, tandem and engineered lifts, verifying crane selection, capacity, load charts and positioning.
• Validate calculations for load weight, centre of gravity, sling angles, tensions and lifting points.
• Ensure all lifting equipment and accessories have valid third‑party inspection certificates and are fit for purpose.
• Participate in pre‑lift meetings, toolbox talks and site inspections, monitoring compliance with ADNOC codes, project HSE requirements and international standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
• 15+ years of experience in oil & gas or petrochemical lifting and rigging, including at least 5 years in mega projects.
• Proven experience on ADNOC or similar Middle‑East projects, both on‑shore and offshore.
• Hands‑on experience with crane assembly, disassembly and heavy‑lifting installations.

Required skills

• Crane load‑chart analysis and crane configuration assessment.
• Rigging calculations, sling‑tension and centre‑of‑gravity determination.
• Load distribution, ground‑bearing pressure and crane‑stability evaluation.
• Heavy‑lifting methodologies, tandem‑crane operations and lifting‑beam design.
• Inspection, certification and compliance with BS 7121, ASME B30 series, ISO standards and ADNOC codes of practice.
