Rolling Stock Technician

About the role

The Rolling Stock Technician will provide engineering and maintenance services for the Dubai Metro rolling stock and maintenance vehicles. The role involves preventive and corrective maintenance, minor modifications, and ensuring safe and reliable operation of passenger service vehicles, engineering support vehicles, shunting vehicles and wagons.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Rolling Stock Team Leader with preventive and corrective maintenance on all types of rolling stock.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections, replace consumables, conduct minor repairs and technical cleaning.
• Test functional performance of electromechanical assemblies and replace electrical/electronic components.
• Operate metalworking machines and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic systems, verifying dimensions and clearances.
• Carry out wheel truing using an under‑floor wheel lathe and perform scheduled bogie overhauls.
• Produce and maintain accurate maintenance records using the computerized maintenance management system.

Required profile

• Working knowledge of car body, bogies, suspension, propulsion, brakes, electrical systems and train control monitoring.
• Vocational trade certificate or diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Prior experience in shunting or driving engineering vehicles is an advantage.
