Safety Officer

About the role

The Safety Officer will support and monitor health, safety and environmental (HSE) compliance across construction project sites in Abu Dhabi. You will ensure that safety requirements are implemented, conduct inspections and audits, and promote a strong safety culture in line with statutory regulations and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage site safety and ensure compliance with local HSE regulations (ADPHC, ADOSH, DM Code) and company policies.
• Conduct planned site inspections and audits, issue warnings or stop‑work orders for non‑compliance.
• Maintain safety files, registers and submit monthly safety reports to the Project HSE Manager.
• Coordinate with safety representatives of consultants, subcontractors and vendors, and communicate safety performance to line management.
• Assist in investigating accidents, injuries, near‑misses and recommend preventive measures.
• Review and comment on risk assessments and OHS method statements for hazardous activities.
• Organise and conduct emergency drills and exercises to test site emergency response plans.
• Support safety training initiatives and respond to workers' safety concerns.

Required profile

• Minimum 60 months (5 years) of experience in construction site safety.
• Familiarity with UAE HSE regulations such as ADPHC, ADOSH and DM Code.
• Ability to work onsite and interact with technical and non‑technical personnel.
• Strong reporting and documentation skills.
