Senior Accountant

About the role

This role is responsible for managing day‑to‑day accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and internal policies. It requires strong attention to detail, coordination with cross‑functional teams, and the ability to handle complex reconciliations and reporting tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and review general ledger entries, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and IFRS compliance.
• Coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities, meeting timelines and accuracy standards.
• Manage balance‑sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies promptly.
• Maintain fixed‑asset registers, handling capitalization, depreciation, disposal and physical verification.
• Process intercompany transactions, ensuring timely reconciliations and settlements.
• Support preparation of financial statements and related schedules for internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure accruals, pre‑payments and provisions are accurately recorded with proper documentation.
• Assist with audit schedules and respond to internal and external audit queries.
• Support VAT compliance, including preparation and review of VAT returns and reconciliations.
• Collaborate with procurement, treasury and operations teams to ensure timely flow of financial information.
• Participate in ERP and accounting system implementation and continuous improvement.
• Identify and drive process improvements for greater efficiency, accuracy and compliance.
• Mentor junior accountants, reviewing their work and guiding best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• 6+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in healthcare or shared‑services environment.
• Proven experience managing month‑end closings and complex reconciliations.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and general accounting principles.
• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
