Senior Backend Engineer – .NET & Cloud Microservices

About the role

Thales is seeking a senior backend engineer to design and build high‑performance, cloud‑native services that power critical defence and infrastructure solutions. You will work with .NET 6+, micro‑service architectures, and Kubernetes to deliver scalable APIs for a range of mission‑critical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, design and develop reactive, scalable backend services using .NET Core within a micro‑services architecture.
• Lead technical initiatives, set coding standards, conduct design reviews and ensure best‑practice adherence.
• Own the full development lifecycle from requirements gathering through deployment and production support.
• Optimize services for performance, scalability, reliability and cloud‑native operation.
• Implement advanced security and data‑protection measures in line with industry standards.
• Collaborate with QA and product teams to streamline CI/CD pipelines and ensure smooth releases.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency with .NET 6+ and API design.
• Hands‑on experience building micro‑services on Kubernetes and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proven track record delivering CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Deep understanding of security, performance tuning and reliability engineering.
