Senior Civil Roads Engineer

About the role

KBR is seeking an experienced Senior Civil/Roads Engineer to lead the design, engineering and coordination of road infrastructure for the Majnoon Project in Abu Dhabi. The role covers greenfield and brownfield developments for large‑scale oil & gas and industrial facilities, from concept through detailed design and construction support.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of access roads, internal plant roads, heavy‑haul roads and paved areas.
• Prepare road alignment, geometric and pavement designs, and cross‑sections in line with international standards.
• Perform pavement design calculations for flexible and rigid pavements, considering heavy equipment loads, soil conditions and environmental factors.
• Design road drainage systems, including surface drainage, culverts, ditches and storm‑water networks, integrated with site grading and utilities.
• Develop technical specifications, material take‑offs (MTOs) and scope of work documents for road construction packages.
• Review and approve road layouts, longitudinal and cross profiles, and detailed drawings.
• Coordinate with structural, process, pipeline, electrical and instrumentation disciplines to resolve interface issues.
• Ensure compliance with standards such as AASHTO, BS, ASTM and Iraqi specifications.
• Provide technical support during tendering, bid evaluation and construction phases.

Required profile

• Proven experience in civil/road engineering for large‑scale oil & gas or industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of international road design standards and best practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple engineering disciplines.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
