Senior Commissioning Engineer – Electrical

About the role

McDermott International is seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Engineer specialized in electrical systems to join its Dubai team. The role focuses on leading commissioning activities, ensuring safe and efficient start‑up of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation equipment, and mentoring less‑experienced colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Principal Commissioning Engineer and prepare home‑office deliverables.
• Conduct walk‑down inspections, punch‑listing, and testing of mechanical, electrical and instrument components on site.
• Develop and maintain manuals, spare parts lists, first‑fill consumables, and start‑up procedures.
• Perform equipment system checks, function testing, and performance testing during commissioning and start‑up phases.
• Resolve operational and maintenance issues that arise during testing.
• Supervise craft personnel during pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate activities with project engineers, construction/fabrication teams, and client representatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• 8‑15 years of oil‑and‑gas experience with a major contractor or consultant.
• Strong understanding of commissioning, completions, and start‑up processes.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
