Senior Commissioning Engineer – Electrical

About the role

The Senior Commissioning Engineer (Electrical) will apply best practices and deep technical knowledge to enhance McDermott's commissioning discipline. Acting as a mentor for less‑experienced colleagues, this role solves complex commissioning challenges and ensures projects meet quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Principal Commissioning Engineer and prepare home‑office deliverables.
• Participate in walk‑down inspections, punch‑listing, and testing of mechanical, electrical and instrument components on site.
• Develop and maintain manuals, start‑up spares, consumables, and commissioning procedures.
• Conduct equipment system checks, functional testing, and performance testing during start‑up.
• Resolve operational and maintenance issues during commissioning, start‑up and performance phases.
• Supervise craft personnel and coordinate activities with other engineers and project teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent).
• 8–15 years of oil & gas experience with a major contractor or consultant.
• At least 5 years in a chemical, refinery, or oil & gas processing facility.
• Minimum 2 years of commissioning and start‑up experience in the sector.
• Strong communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Willingness to travel internationally for site assignments.

Required skills

• Commissioning and start‑up procedures.

• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
• Ability to develop and maintain technical manuals and spares lists.
