Senior Commissioning Engineer – Mechanical Systems (Offshore, WHT, Subsea)

About the role

Penspen is seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Engineer to lead mechanical systems commissioning for offshore oil & gas projects in Abu Dhabi. The role covers Wellhead Towers, offshore platforms, subsea pipelines, cable facilities and brownfield modifications, ensuring safe hand‑over to operations.

Key responsibilities

• Execute pre‑commissioning, commissioning, testing, start‑up and hand‑over of mechanical equipment on offshore platforms, WHTs and subsea facilities.
• Develop Mechanical Commissioning Execution Plans, procedures, schedules and systemisation strategies.
• Review engineering deliverables, vendor manuals, P&IDs, datasheets and operating philosophies.
• Coordinate offshore hook‑up, pigging, hydro‑testing and pipeline start‑up activities.
• Support brownfield project commissioning, shutdown and tie‑in operations.
• Lead OEM and vendor specialists during commissioning and resolve technical issues affecting operational readiness.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 15 + years of experience, with at least 5 years in offshore projects.
• Proven experience in mechanical commissioning and start‑up of offshore platforms, Wellhead Towers, jackets, topsides and brownfield facilities.
• Background in PMC/EPC environments; ADNOC offshore experience is an advantage.
