Senior Platform Engineer - Azure AI Platform

About the role

A large financial enterprise in Abu Dhabi is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, scale and evolve its Azure AI platform as a reusable enterprise product. The role focuses on cloud-native platform capabilities and hybrid-cloud ecosystems, with emphasis on AI service operationalization, security, reusable platform products and automated infrastructure controls.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and deploy production-ready modular Azure AI platform capabilities, defining boundaries, service contracts, tenancy patterns, scaling models and secure integration standards.
• Build shared AI service capabilities by standardizing access to Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Document Intelligence and agent and tool orchestration patterns.
• Standardize application consumption through APIs, SDKs, templates and reference implementations.
• Define reusable Terraform modules and templatized infrastructure patterns, and embed network, identity, security, tagging and observability into infrastructure provisioning.
• Implement policy-as-code and automated validation for naming, approved SKUs, network isolation and compliance.
• Provide self-service provisioning via GitHub Actions or platform APIs, and establish reusable patterns, release management, documentation and onboarding.
• Engineer production runtimes on AKS and Azure Container Apps for APIs, agents, MCP servers and asynchronous workloads.
• Manage API lifecycles using Azure API Management and Kong.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience with the Azure Cloud Platform.
• Strong cloud and solution architecture capabilities.
• Ability to turn security, risk and compliance requirements into automated platform controls.

Required skills

• Terraform and GitHub Actions, including modular design, automated testing and controlled promotion.
• Familiarity with Azure AI Foundry and Azure OpenAI Service.
• Network architecture: VNETs, peering, firewalls, private links.
• Hands-on experience with AKS, Azure Container Apps, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, APIM, identity and private networking.
• Kubernetes, containers, platform APIs, SDK design, observability and SRE practices.
