Senior Power Electronics Engineer

About the role

The Senior Power Electronics Engineer will lead the design, development, testing and optimisation of advanced power electronic systems for aerospace and defence applications. You will work on next‑generation converters, motor drives and energy‑management solutions, ensuring reliability, efficiency and cost‑effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC converters, inverters, rectifiers and motor‑drive systems.
• Select and size power semiconductors, magnetics, capacitors and protection devices.
• Create electrical schematics, PCB layouts and wiring diagrams.
• Develop control algorithms for power conversion and motor control.
• Evaluate emerging SiC and GaN semiconductor technologies.
• Design novel topologies for high‑performance, compact power converters.
• Perform circuit design and PCB development using Altium Designer.
• Model and validate system behaviour with MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS and LTspice.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s, MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in power electronics design and development.
• Strong knowledge of power conversion topologies and switching devices.
• Experience with PWM techniques, digital control systems and embedded platforms.

Required skills

• Power converter design (AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC, DAB, resonant DAB).
• Modulation techniques (PWM, AWM, phase‑shift modulation).
• Motor drives and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Altium Designer, MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice.
• SiC and GaN semiconductor devices.
