Senior Principal Technician – Onboard Telemetry

About the role

EDGE Group is looking for a highly motivated Senior Principal Technician to lead the design, development, integration and execution of onboard telemetry systems for precision‑guided munitions and advanced weapon platforms. You will work in a collaborative engineering environment supporting flight‑test activities, data acquisition and post‑test analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain telemetry packs (tel‑packs) for PGMs, ensuring compliance with customer and industry standards.
• Create and manage telemetry design data packs, technical documentation and configuration records.
• Design analog signal‑conditioning circuits and implement data‑acquisition hardware.
• Install, configure and validate telemetry equipment for flight‑test programs.
• Develop and execute acceptance, verification and validation procedures.
• Prepare and maintain telemetry metadata for PCM, Arcnet and onboard weapon communication systems per ICDs.
• Support real‑time telemetry reception, test configuration and monitoring during flight tests.
• Perform data reduction, processing and analysis using MATLAB and related tools.
• Generate post‑flight test reports and provide technical recommendations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate telemetry with weapon, seeker, servo and other subsystems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electronic subsystem and production test failures through root‑cause analysis.

Required profile

• Engineering degree or diploma in Electronic, Electrical, Mechatronics, Aerospace or a closely related discipline.
• 10‑12 years of telemetry and flight‑test experience in defense or space (e.g., drones, weapons, satellites, rockets).
• Proven experience with telemetry PCM encoding, Arcnet and serial communication protocols.
• Strong background in signal‑conditioning circuit design, PCB design/layout, electrical wiring and schematic interpretation.
