Senior Process Risk Engineer

About the role

Penspen is seeking an experienced Senior Process Risk Engineer to join its Abu Dhabi team. The role focuses on identifying, assessing, and mitigating process safety risks across the full project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with client, regulatory, and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate process safety and risk assessments during FEED, detailed engineering, and EPC phases.
• Conduct and facilitate HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, and ALARP studies.
• Review Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS), cause‑effect matrices, and SIL verification reports.
• Participate in design reviews, providing recommendations to eliminate or mitigate risks.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, licensors, contractors, and consultants on safety matters.
• Support procurement, construction, pre‑commissioning, commissioning, start‑up, and operational readiness from a process safety perspective.
• Prepare process safety reports, action trackers, and ensure timely closure of study recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Process or Safety Engineering.
• 15+ years of oil & gas experience, with at least 5 years on PMC projects.
• Proven experience in multi‑discipline EPC projects and supporting all phases from procurement to start‑up.
• Strong background in greenfield and brownfield terminal or facilities upgrade projects.
• Preferable experience in GCC/Middle East oil & gas projects.
