Senior Quantity Surveyor – Building Projects

About the role

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will lead the commercial and contractual management of major building projects for Stantec in Abu Dhabi. You will be responsible for cost control, contract administration, claims handling and procurement support throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all quantity surveying and commercial activities on building projects.
• Prepare cost estimates, quantity take‑offs, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), tender and contract documents.
• Administer contracts, ensuring compliance with obligations and project requirements.
• Review, evaluate and negotiate variations, claims, extensions of time and additional cost submissions.
• Prepare, submit and negotiate interim payment applications and final accounts.
• Monitor project budgets, cash flow, forecasts and commercial performance.
• Provide commercial support to Project Managers, Resident Engineers and project teams.
• Oversee subcontractor procurement, contract administration and final account settlements.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities and recommend mitigation measures.
• Maintain accurate records of contractual correspondence and financial data.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants and authorities on commercial matters.
• Participate in project meetings, progress reviews and commercial negotiations.
• Prepare monthly commercial reports and management updates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with strong commercial and contract management background.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience working in the UAE.
• Proven track record delivering commercial services on large‑scale building projects (residential, commercial, mixed‑use, hospitality, healthcare or institutional).
