Senior Software Development Engineer 3 - Delivery Systems

About the role

A team building a high-traffic, multi-region e-commerce platform is hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer 3 in Dubai. The engineer owns critical backend systems that power millions of customer journeys daily, from order placement to delivery, defining system design, driving technical strategy and leading multi-quarter, multi-team initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Build and scale the Delivery Promise Service for real-time delivery commitments.
• Design and maintain WMS backend services for inventory, pick-pack-ship and warehouse operations.
• Develop TMS capabilities for carrier selection, route optimization, shipment tracking and delivery status updates.
• Architect event-driven workflows using Kafka and build integrations with logistics providers and carrier APIs.
• Build resilient systems that handle peak demand during major sales events.
• Set up observability with metrics, dashboards, structured logging, tracing and SLA monitoring.
• Lead architecture reviews, code reviews and technical mentorship, and coach engineers on career development.
• Champion an AI-first engineering culture and simplify codebases and infrastructure.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience leading architecture reviews and creating Architectural Decision Records (ADRs).
• Proven experience designing and operating large-scale microservices architectures.
• Experience in high-scale domains such as e-commerce, retail, logistics, supply chain or consumer technology.

Required skills

• Backend language: Python, Java or Node.js.
• Cloud: GCP, AWS or Azure, including multi-region deployments.
• Docker and Kubernetes in production; CI/CD pipelines and automated quality controls.
• Event-driven architectures with Kafka, SQS/SNS, Pub/Sub or RabbitMQ.
• Caching with Redis, Memcached and CDNs; advanced databases (query optimization, replication, sharding).
• API security: OAuth 2.0, JWT, API gateways and WAF.
