Senior Specialist – Consultant General Surgery

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Specialist – Consultant in General Surgery to join a prestigious government healthcare facility in Dubai. The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality surgical care, lead complex cases and support the department’s clinical excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist‑level surgical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and follow‑up for general surgical patients.
• Perform a wide range of elective and emergency general surgical procedures.
• Conduct pre‑operative assessments and manage post‑operative care, monitoring patients throughout the surgical pathway.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, physicians, nurses and other multidisciplinary team members.
• Maintain accurate patient records, surgical documentation and contribute to clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
• Mentor and supervise junior medical staff, contributing to their training and development.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS, MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Postgraduate qualification in General Surgery (e.g., UK CCT, American Board, Australian Board, South African Board).
• Significant post‑specialty clinical experience in General Surgery, including both elective and emergency cases.
• Strong clinical judgment, decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
