Senior Static Equipment Engineer

About the role

The Senior Static Equipment Engineer is responsible for the functional management of static equipment maintenance activities within the assigned refinery area. The role ensures equipment reliability, availability, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards while leading a team of engineers and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Act in accordance with the EPCL Incident Command System (ICS) and directives from the Emergency Command Centre.
• Implement and monitor health, safety, and environmental policies for all static activities.
• Conduct safety audits and identify potential hazards in the static equipment area.
• Supervise static engineers and maintenance contractors.
• Maintain and troubleshoot refinery static equipment such as vessels, columns, fired heaters, and heat exchangers.
• Oversee execution of normal and preventive maintenance programmes.
• Investigate equipment failures and perform root‑cause analysis.
• Review and report on the yearly static budget, providing monthly status updates.
• Ensure qualified manpower is available through timely contract renewal.
• Plan and execute work during refinery turn‑arounds and shutdowns.
• Complete static work according to preventive‑maintenance schedules and work requests using SAP or other CMMS.
• Analyse costs and repair histories for all work orders.

Required profile

• Significant experience in static equipment maintenance within a refinery environment.
• Proven ability to supervise engineers and maintenance contractors.
• Experience developing and managing short‑ and long‑term maintenance plans and budgets.
• Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental compliance in industrial settings.

Required skills

• Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) – e.g., SAP.
• Incident Command System (ICS) knowledge.
• Static equipment expertise (vessels, columns, fired heaters, heat exchangers).
• Root‑cause analysis techniques.
• Preventive maintenance planning and execution.
• Budget development and cost control.
