Senior Systems Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

The Senior Systems Infrastructure Engineer will guide and support the planning, implementation, operation and security of Mediclinic’s ICT services. This role covers on‑premises infrastructure, virtualisation, storage, backup, disaster recovery, identity, email, cloud platforms and automation to ensure resilient healthcare delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Document and continuously improve infrastructure architecture across multiple domains.
• Maintain, monitor, update and secure servers, networking, storage and virtual environments.
• Diagnose and resolve incidents, ensuring high availability of critical systems.
• Own backup governance, disaster recovery testing and business continuity processes.
• Support hybrid cloud operations, identity services and email platforms.
• Contribute to ITIL governance, CMDB accuracy, vendor management and procurement input.
• Drive automation, monitoring and continuous service improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Relevant bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an ICT‑related field.
• At least 3 years of ICT systems support and design experience; 10 + years preferred for senior‑level delivery.
• Experience with backup, disaster recovery, virtualization, monitoring tools and hybrid cloud environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

• InterSystems IRIS (mirroring, caching, failover, patch management).
• Microsoft infrastructure (Windows Server, Azure, MCSE/MCSA equivalents).
• Virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V, VCP).
• Linux administration.
• Networking certifications (CCNA) and security hardening.
• Backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Automation and monitoring tools.
