Senior Teacher – English Language

About the role

The British Council is seeking an experienced Senior Teacher to lead and inspire our teaching team in Dubai. You will combine classroom teaching with line‑management, curriculum development and continuous professional development for staff.

Key responsibilities

• Provide line management and pastoral support to teachers, conduct classroom observations and promote staff wellbeing.
• Design, deliver and coordinate regional CPD programmes, mentor new colleagues and model best classroom practice.
• Collaborate with Teaching Operations and Customer Services to manage academic enquiries, pilot new courses and support product development.
• Champion safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion and SEND provision across the centre.

Required profile

• Recognised ELT qualification (CELTA, DELTA or equivalent) with at least 2 years post‑diploma teaching experience.
• Extensive experience in managing and delivering teacher training and line‑managing teaching teams.
• Proven experience teaching primary, lower‑secondary, upper‑secondary, university/vocational and adult learners.
• High proficiency in English (CEFR C2, IELTS Academic 8+ in each band).

Required skills

• Strong communication and coaching abilities.
• Ability to design and implement professional development programmes.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, EDI and SEND policies.
