Senior Underwriter - Liability

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Underwriter – Liability to lead the acquisition and underwriting of complex liability portfolios for the National Insurance Company – Daman in Abu Dhabi. The role combines technical underwriting expertise with P&L responsibility and team leadership to drive profitable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and acquire new liability business by building relationships with brokers and clients and negotiating terms.
• Conduct detailed risk assessments and pricing analyses to ensure balanced risk‑reward outcomes.
• Lead and mentor a high‑performing underwriting team, overseeing underwriting decisions and performance.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies and industry best practices.
• Provide market intelligence, monitor competitor activity and regulatory changes to shape underwriting strategies.
• Prepare and review underwriting reports, risk documentation and communicate decisions to internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• 8‑10 years of liability underwriting experience with top‑tier insurers or syndicates.
• Proven track record in new business acquisition and client relationship management.
• Degree in Business, Finance, Insurance or related field; professional designations such as ACII or CPCU preferred.
• Strong understanding of casualty and financial lines of insurance.
