Shari’a Audit Manager

About the role

The Manager – Shari’a Audit is responsible for planning, executing and overseeing internal Shari’a audit assignments across ADIB Group in Abu Dhabi. The role ensures compliance with AAOIFI standards, internal policies and the resolutions of the Internal Shari’a Supervisory Committee, providing assurance that Shari’a compliance risks are mitigated.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and manage internal Shari’a audit assignments according to risk‑based audit plans.
• Develop and update Shari’a audit programmes, incorporating committee resolutions and risk assessments.
• Conduct complex audits, select samples, prepare working papers and ensure timely reporting of findings.
• Coordinate with the Shari’a IT project team to generate required audit reports and tools.
• Present audit plans and findings to team members, line management and the Shari’a Audit Committee.
• Monitor corrective actions on previous audit exceptions and ensure repeat issues are highlighted.
• Provide guidance and training to junior Shari’a auditors and review policy changes for compliance impact.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Sharia, Islamic Economics or Islamic Banking.
• Professional certifications such as CISSA and CIPA (or equivalent).
• 5 to 10 years of experience in Shari’a audit, compliance or related fields.
• Fluent in Arabic and English with strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient IT skills and familiarity with automated Shari’a auditing tools.
