Shari’a Compliance Officer

About the role

The Shari’a Compliance Officer ensures that ADIB’s operations adhere to the standards set by the Higher Shari’a Authority (HSA) and related Islamic Shari’a Supervisory Committee (ISSC) resolutions, as well as Central Bank regulations. The role supports the capture, dissemination, and monitoring of new resolutions across the bank.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the team leader in supervising the Shari’a Risk Assurance (SRA) unit and its members.
• Record and distribute new HSA and ISSC resolutions, ensuring accurate translation and system entry.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date database of resolutions using the Governance, Risk and Control (GRC) system.
• Communicate resolutions to relevant departments and verify proper implementation.
• Conduct gap assessments, identify compliance obligations, evaluate risks and existing controls.
• Recommend corrective actions for identified non‑compliance and monitor action‑plan execution.
• Provide regular status updates, reports and dashboards to stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement of ADIB’s Shari’a compliance policies, procedures and methodologies.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of HSA, ISSC resolutions and UAE banking regulations.
• Excellent analytical and documentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple business units.
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

Required skills

• Proficiency with governance, risk and compliance (GRC) systems.
• Fluent in English; Arabic translation skills are a plus.
