Shari’a Compliance Officer

About the role

The Shari’a Compliance Officer ensures that all banking activities across the ADIB Group adhere to the standards set by the Higher Shari’a Authority (HSA) and related Islamic finance regulations. The role supports the team leader in managing the Shari’a Resolutions and Standards (SRA) unit and acts as a liaison between the bank’s operational functions and the Shari’a governance framework.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, record and disseminate new HSA and ISSC resolutions throughout the organization.
• Translate resolution texts when required and input them accurately into the governance system.
• Identify key stakeholders for each business line and maintain an up‑to‑date database of all resolutions.
• Conduct comprehensive gap assessments against HSA resolutions, evaluate risks and the effectiveness of existing controls.
• Assist in identifying non‑compliance areas, recommend corrective actions and monitor implementation of action plans.
• Provide regular status updates on obligations, action plans and any emerging compliance issues to the team leader.

Required profile

• Minimum of 36 months (3 years) experience in Islamic banking, Shari’a compliance or a related legal/compliance function.
• Strong understanding of Islamic Commercial Jurisprudence and banking products.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple business units and communicate regulatory requirements clearly.
