Smart City Technical Lead

About the role

Honeywell is seeking a Smart City Technical Lead to design and deliver an integrated smart city platform in Abu Dhabi. You will guide architecture, technology selection, and implementation across multiple urban systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design a comprehensive smart city platform architecture covering data flows and integration points.
• Select appropriate sensors, IoT platforms, analytics tools and cloud services for specific use cases.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define use cases such as traffic optimisation, energy monitoring and public safety.
• Develop data management frameworks for real‑time collection, storage, analysis and visualisation.
• Ensure seamless integration of legacy systems into a unified platform.
• Define robust security measures and ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
• Oversee integration of access control, BMS, traffic management, energy grids, public lighting and environmental monitoring.
• Communicate technical concepts to city officials, project managers and end‑users.
• Provide technical input on budgets, timelines and resource allocation.
• Lead the on‑site technical team and allocate resources as needed.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience as a solution architect in IoT and smart‑city projects.
• Deep understanding of IoT technologies, data analytics, big‑data platforms and AI/ML principles.
• Familiarity with smart‑city challenges and application domains.
• Proven ability to design complex, scalable, resilient distributed systems.
• Excellent communication skills for diverse stakeholder engagement.
• Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and propose innovative solutions.
