Sous Chef – BABA Kitchen

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic Sous Chef to lead the BABA Kitchen team at Westin Hotels & Resorts in Dubai Marina. The role combines culinary creativity with strong supervisory skills to ensure high‑quality food service.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks and kitchen staff.
• Determine food presentation, create decorative displays and ensure proper portioning and garnish.
• Monitor food quantities, stock levels and kitchen supplies.
• Inform front‑of‑house staff of menu specials and out‑of‑stock items.
• Prepare special meals, substitute items and assist cooks with various tasks.
• Maintain kitchen logs for the food safety program and ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Support management in hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating team members.
• Follow all safety, security and company policies, reporting any hazards or incidents.
• Address guest service needs and maintain professional appearance.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational culinary education.
• 4–6 years of relevant culinary experience.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a hotel or restaurant kitchen.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 25 lb and standing for extended periods.
• Clear, professional communication skills and a commitment to confidentiality.
