Specialist Anaesthetist – Part‑Time (Ophthalmic)

About the role

Moorfields Eye Hospital Abu Dhabi is seeking a highly skilled Specialist Anaesthetist on a part‑time basis to deliver anaesthetic care for a wide range of ophthalmic surgeries. The role involves managing the peri‑operative journey, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes in a world‑class eye‑care environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide anaesthetic care for cataract, corneal, oculoplastic, paediatric, glaucoma and vitreoretinal procedures.
• Conduct comprehensive pre‑operative assessments, risk stratification and patient counselling.
• Administer general, regional, monitored sedation and local anaesthetic techniques as required.
• Deliver safe peri‑operative and post‑operative care, including pain management and recovery monitoring.
• Support emergency anaesthetic needs related to ophthalmic services.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists, nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient theatre workflow.
• Maintain compliance with clinical governance, infection control and patient safety standards.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement projects and service development activities.

Required profile

• Board‑certified anaesthetist with experience in ophthalmic surgery.
• Strong clinical judgement and ability to assess and optimise comorbidities.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills with surgeons and allied health professionals.
• Commitment to patient‑centred care and continuous quality improvement.
