Specialist Physician Dermatology

About the role

The Specialist Physician in Dermatology provides high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centred care within the Division of Dermatology. Reporting to the Consultant Physician, the role combines clinical excellence with supervision of junior medical staff and participation in departmental initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Support and adhere to all hospital departmental policies, performance management processes and incident reporting.
• Assist Consultant staff to ensure continuous medical coverage across the Division.
• Attend divisional meetings and assume additional administrative or clinical duties as requested.
• Diagnose and treat dermatology patients under the supervision of the Consultant Physician, following best‑practice standards.
• Supervise junior medical staff, sharing responsibility for the care they deliver.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients, and document clinical information promptly.
• Review investigation results, adjust treatment plans, and coordinate with other specialties.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and ensure proper patient preparation and informed consent for procedures.
• Accept referrals from Emergency, primary care, specialty clinics and walk‑in patients.
• Provide out‑of‑hours on‑call coverage on a rotational basis.

Required profile

• Demonstrated clinical excellence in dermatology.
• Experience supervising and training junior medical staff.
• Commitment to hospital policies, quality improvement and incident management.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to participate in on‑call rotations and additional duties as needed.
