Staff Nurse – Labor and Delivery (TP)

About the role

The Staff Nurse will provide direct and indirect age‑specific care to patients in the Labour and Delivery Unit at American Hospital, Dubai. Working on scheduled shifts, the nurse ensures safe, patient‑centered care while adhering to Joint Commission International standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments using problem‑focused, age‑specific techniques.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, revise, and implement individualized care plans.
• Document all relevant clinical data accurately in the medical record.
• Maintain availability of supplies and equipment, and perform clerical duties as needed.
• Handle and administer narcotic, controlled, and semi‑controlled drugs safely, following hospital policies.
• Participate in unit meetings, committees, and Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
• Ensure completion of mandatory education and competency requirements, including fire safety, infection control, pain management, and emergency device usage.

Required profile

• Valid nursing license to practice in the United Arab Emirates.
• Experience in labour and delivery or related maternity care settings.
• Ability to recognize subtle clinical cues and anticipate potential problems.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff.

Required skills

• Patient assessment and clinical documentation.
• Medication administration, including narcotics and controlled substances.
• Pain management protocols.
• Use of emergency department devices and equipment.
