Systems Engineer – UAV Development

About the role

Air Q Limited seeks an experienced Systems Engineer to join its Mechanical R&D team in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on the definition, integration, verification and validation of complete Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) platforms, ensuring all subsystems work together as a reliable, maintainable aircraft.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain aircraft‑level and subsystem‑level technical requirements, translating operational and customer needs into testable specifications.
• Develop system architecture, functional breakdowns, and technical specifications, allocating requirements to relevant engineering teams.
• Coordinate integration of structures, propulsion, drivetrain, landing gear, payloads, cooling, avionics, electrical and flight‑control systems.
• Manage mechanical, electrical, thermal, physical and functional interfaces, reviewing packaging, accessibility, weight and centre‑of‑gravity considerations.
• Prepare and maintain Interface Control Documents, evaluate change impacts on performance, safety, weight, cost and schedule.
• Support configuration management, engineering change‑control activities and multidisciplinary issue resolution.
• Participate in system requirement reviews, preliminary, critical and test‑readiness design reviews, and assess CAD assemblies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in systems engineering for UAV or aircraft platforms.
• Ability to translate operational needs into clear, testable engineering requirements.
• Strong coordination skills across Mechanical R&D, Powertrain, Avionics, Flight Control, Manufacturing and Testing teams.
• Experience with interface control documentation and configuration management processes.

• CAD (Computer‑Aided Design) for assembly review and integration.
