Technical Operations Traineeship

About the role

This six‑month Technical Operations Traineeship offers hands‑on experience in live broadcast production at CNBC’s O&T department. Trainees rotate through studio, field, and digital video workflows, gaining exposure to end‑to‑end newsroom operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and set up studio equipment daily, ensuring cameras, lighting, and teleprompters are ready for live news.
• Support live audio mixing, balancing multiple sources to maintain clear sound quality.
• Operate robotic camera control systems and manual jib cameras for dynamic shots.
• Collaborate with directors, editors, camera operators, and graphic artists to deliver live television content.
• Set up microphones and in‑ear monitors for anchors, correspondents, and guests.
• Troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on studio equipment to minimise downtime.
• Observe studio floor operations and learn coordination between talent, guests, and control‑room cues.
• Provide technical production support to news editorial and operations teams.
