Urban Planner – Master Planning & Development

About the role

The Urban Planner will lead the creation of master plans, land‑use strategies and zoning regulations for large‑scale development projects in Abu Dhabi. You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, government authorities and private developers to deliver integrated, sustainable urban solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare master plans, structure plans, neighbourhood plans and urban development strategies.
• Conduct land‑use analysis, demographic studies and socioeconomic assessments.
• Develop zoning regulations, planning policies and development control guidelines.
• Perform site analysis, feasibility studies and urban growth assessments.
• Coordinate with transportation, utilities, environmental and infrastructure teams to ensure integrated planning.
• Prepare planning reports, presentations and technical documentation for stakeholders.
• Review development applications and assess compliance with planning regulations and standards.
• Engage with government authorities, developers and community representatives during public consultations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Urban Planning (Master’s preferred).
• 3‑10+ years of experience in urban or master planning, preferably on Middle‑East/GCC projects.
• Professional membership with a recognized planning institute (e.g., RTPI, APA, CIP, PIA) is an advantage.
• Proven experience working with government agencies, municipalities, developers or engineering consultants.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS).
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Visio.
• Familiarity with zoning codes, development standards and sustainability principles.
• Experience in spatial modeling, data analysis and report preparation.
