Welding Engineer

About the role

The Welding Engineer will develop and manage project welding procedures, ensuring compliance with design, engineering and construction codes. Working under moderate guidance, you will support the fabrication and construction teams in Dubai by solving straightforward welding challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Develop project‑specific Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) that meet applicable codes and standards.
• Maintain and oversee the welder qualification program, including preparation and review of qualification tests.
• Review customer drawings and specifications to determine material and welding requirements.
• Select appropriate electrodes/consumables, estimate quantities and source materials for WPS/PQR development.
• Conduct toolbox talks, welding kick‑offs and supervise on‑site PQR execution and laboratory testing.
• Collaborate with customers’ engineers and production supervisors to resolve metallurgical and welding issues.
• Assist in the design of automatic welding systems and new welding methodologies.
• Supervise metallurgical laboratory activities, welding school training and vendor document reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in welding, metallurgy or fabrication within the construction industry.
• Familiarity with welding codes, standards and specifications (e.g., AWS, ASME, API).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
